Relentless, dynamic and uncompromising.
Tourist appeared in 2002.
Not unlike the diverse topography of their hometown Perth, where miles of sandy shores and stark desert meet. Their songwriting has always steered clear of the formulaic and mediocre.
At heart, a band driven by a tenacious will, pushing forward with a true musicality that inspires, informs and guides their craft. After establishing and commanding attention as a blistering live act, the band released 'The Places We All Go' in 2004. As far as debut releases go, the band shot straight to national radio with 'Truth'. Features on Planet Rock, a Perth music documentary and widespread acclaim followed.
By 2007 'A Toast to Absent Friends' was a sign of a band not playing it safe, unwilling to get sucked into the vortex of the cliched rock clique. As the single 'Hopeless' gained high rotation on national radio it took out #1 spot on a U.K. independent artist song competition showcasing artists worldwide. Soon after Tourist began crafting what they believe is their definitive work to date, the soon to be released full length album, 'Race Against Time'. A cohesive melding pot of musical styles that reflects the true nature of their songwriting, diverse, original and timeless.
